      Squire FSR Affinity Telecaster

Posted by Michael G Wright on 27th Sep 2023

This Squire FSR Affinity Telecaster is well worth the price. While at the economical range of the Telecaster price spectrum, it plays extremely well and will satisfy all except the most discerning player. It required tweaks to the string height and intonation. Otherwise it sounded great right out of the box. According to Fender's website, FSRs are built to slightly modified specs at dealers' requests. I noticed a different screw configuration attaching the tailpiece to the body, no "Affinity" on the headstock, and slotted tuners. I believe the maple neck was custom also, because I could not find another in Affinity with one. I am very happy with my purchase.

Great guitar for the price but may require a set up.

I got this guitar recently and overall the guitar looks and sounds great after a set up. It's a very beginner friendly guitar as its not too expensive but still well built. There was a small scratch on the back of the body but I live with it because no one will see it when playing.

I only gave this 4 stars because my guitar did arrive with fret buzzing on the 6th string. I contacted their customer support and the person was very professional but I find fault with the troubleshooting, they give you a list of stuff to look/mess with but ultimately if none of those work they tell you to bring it somewhere for a tune up. I'm not very savvy with diagnosing and fixing guitars my knowledge is just tuning and changing strings so maybe someone with more experience would have been able to easily fix it on their own. Since I'm from out of town I had to find a local shop near me to have it looked at which costs me more $ and I think it would go a long way if they inspect them for playability before shipping out.

      Rock On,
      Tom
