What's New - Casio Privia PX-870 vs PX860 Digital Pianos

Posted by

In September 2017, Casio released their newest version of the Privia line of digital pianos, the Casio Privia PX-870. With the reliability and proven quality of the PX-860, the new PX-870 does a great job on building upon the earlier model to deliver a more organic sound and feel to that of a true grand piano. Along with the updated authenticity, this digital piano also has a 256 polyphony sound and tech-friendly digital features to make the learning and piano playing experience enjoyable at a low price.

Always Connected

The PX-870 connects via class-compliant USB to any PC, Mac, iOS, or Android device, with no drivers or installations needed. Casio is also developing an iOS/Android app for the new PX870 which will allow the piano to be connected to the app for further control and features.

Learning Curve

With a built-in library includes 60 songs, 19 enhanced tunes, and space for ten songs of your choice, the PX-870 is ideal for learners. Unlike the PX-860, the piano also offers a new headphone mode, so instructor and learner can stay in sync. The Duet Mode splits the piano into two equal pitch ranges; a convenient feature for learning at home, in a lesson studio, or anywhere else.

Better Quality Sound

The PX-870’s innovative new Sound Projection system fills the room with rich, detailed sound. This powerful 40-watt, 4-speaker system is designed to envelop the listener and audience with sound emanating from various places on the instrument, just as it would on a traditional grand piano. The Volume Sync EQ ensures that you hear a balanced, clear sound across the entire frequency range, at any listening volume. Another interesting feature Casio has created is their new reverb settings call Hall Simulation effects which gives the stereo acoustic piano sound more spacious effects such as you would hear in a large concert hall or church where there is natural echo that occurs when playing an instrument.

Smoother Look

Designed to complement any décor, the PX-870 is offered in a black, white, and brown* finish. Unlike the PX-860, the newer generation offers a slimmer and fewer seamed cabinet and re-position of the control panel buttons. This new look provides a cleaner and less cluttered appearance. Another design feature is the updated synthetic ivory white keys. The keys have been re-textured to bring the touch/feel of natural ivory acoustic pianos.
