What's the difference between the now-discontinued Casio PX-150 and the new Casio PX-160 digital piano? Here is a breakdown of Casio's update to the entry-level Privia model.

The Power of Privia

Casio Privia digital pianos have become very popular due to their powerful sound engines, affordable price points and beautifully streamlined designs. If you've ever sat down in front of one of these 88-key digital pianos, you'll know that the scaled hammer action keys with synthetic ebony and ivory texture have an authentic weight and feel that cannot be beat. Couple that with realistic sounds and handy educational features and you have a versatile, compact alternative to the traditional acoustic piano.

Casio PX-150 versus PX-160

As the most affordable model in the Casio Privia series, the now-discontinued PX-150 digital piano presented a great value for beginners, students and teachers alike. It came with a variety of sounds (along with the ability to fine-tune reverb, chorus and brilliance to your liking), a built-in metronome and recorder, and the ability to split and layer the keyboard.

New Casio PX-160 digital pianos

The new  Casio PX-160 digital piano includes all of the great features found in the PX-150 plus an upgraded 2 x 8-Watt speaker system and an added line-out for easy connection to external speakers in case you're looking for even more oomph! You also get all new realistic string ensemble and electric piano sounds for a total of 18 different tones in this versatile digital piano powerhouse. Last but not least, the new PX-160 comes with two headphone jacks on the front for easy access. Say hello to silent practice sessions!

The PX-160 is available in black or champagne gold finish (compared to the PX-150 which was available in black and bright white). Like the PX-150 it is compatible with Casio's  SP-33 Pedal System and CS-67 furniture-style stand in black or white for a more traditional piano look and feel.

  • 88-Key Scaled Hammer Action II Keyboard with simulated ebony & ivory keys
  • 18 instrument voices, including new string ensemble and electric piano sounds
  • Built-in effects; Hall/Reverb, Chorus and Brilliance
  • Headphone outputs on the front of the unit  for silent practice sessions
