      Good, Could be great.

      Pros:
For a ~$100 guitar, it's surprisingly well made.
      1. The pickups sound nice.
      2. the frets are very cleanly installed and dressed.
the bridge, while made of god knows what, intonates very well.
      3. The fretboard edges are lightly rolled.
      4. The finish--while thick--is glass smooth.

      Cons:
      1. Whatever they use to finish the neck is HORRIBLE. I stripped it immediately and coated with polyurethane. Looks nicer, and feels nicer.
      2. The tuning machines are rather lousy as well. They don't turn very smoothly, and I found that while it was very easy to tune and intimate, it didn't hold its tuning as well as I could have hoped. I switched them out with some klusons.
      3. The pickguard isn't very neatly cut.
      4. Action's a bit high. Could use a shallower nut and a neck shim.

Overall, an excellent guitar to practice refinishing and tuning machine installation. I plain on wax potting the pickups and having a tortoiseshell pickguard cut with a bass VI wiring scheme for more control. I expect to have fun with this little bugger.

Also, the little clip-on tuner is clutch

This a really nice guitar. I've been buying and selling gits for over 40 years, so I have a pretty good idea of what I'm talking about.

Let's start with the fit & finish. The finish is perfect - not a ripple or any kind of defect to be seen. I got the white one. Austin Bazaar was the only place I could find it. They also have "old" sunburst and dark blue. I've only seen black, red and pink at the other places. Every screw was tight, the strings perfectly aligned, and it was ready to play "out of the box". I did have to tune it a bit - and used the clip-on tuner that was sent with it. Haven't used my other tuner since. Austin Bazaar apparently knows how to take care of their customers. There was even a guitar bag (to store/carry it in), strap, pics, instructional DVD, polishing cloth and a cord to plug it into an amplifier. That's a lot of useful stuff other outfits don't provide.

The sound is astonishingly good. I know this sounds like I'm writing an ad, but I'm just telling you the truth. The highs are high, the lows low, and the middle tones sound nice too. It has that Fender sound to it alright, and the sustain holds nicely. If you listened to it being played through an amp and didn't know what it was, there's no way you'd think it was a "mini". It's not a toy - it's a real guitar that sounds very, very good.

I have medium-sized hands and have no problems playing it. I suggest you call somebody at the store to get amplifier information if you are a first-time electric guitar buyer. If buying this for a child or beginner, you might also consider getting a pair of headphones the player can use. They plug into the amplifier and block the noise so you don't have to listen to it.
