Very Pleased with the KALA KA-TE - (4-1/2 Stars)

Posted by Edmond Bond on 11th Nov 2016

If you are a beginner or intermediate player, this Uke will be a very good choice, The quality is there, especially considering cost. I will list the features that make this Uke a winner:

1 - The satin mahogony wood and finish are flawless and impressive. The binding is installed perfectly.

2 - The frets were installed right on - no fret buzz or sharp edges.

3 - String height at the 12th fret was right to KAlA specification of 3 mm.

4 - The 17" scale length (nut to bridge) was exact, and 8.5" at the 12th fret. The intonation was right on, almost perfect. There is no truss rod for adjustment, but this UKE was set up almost perfect.

5 - Nanoflex EQ electronics are very good. Clean sound,no noise, good treble/bass and a simple to use accurate built in tuner, The unit uses a lithium CR2032 button battery which is easy to buy and will last a long time.

6 - Sealed tuners are smooth to adjust and no slippage.

7 - The nut and bridge are made of NuBone to improve clarity and sustain - no plastic!

8 -Rosewood fret board and bridge enhance the UKE's appearance.

9 - Combo comes with a very good case (not a hard shell case), but will provide good proection for normal transoprtation. The external tuner is simple to use and provides a great back light screen,

10 - Factory strung with Aquila High G Nylgut tenor strings.

I am very happy with my choice and recommend that a UKE purchaser consider the KALA as one of the choices during your evaluation. Use You Tube for UKE video reviews and manufacturer web pages for details..

Also, the staff at Austin Bazaar are very helpful, and the pricing is good. A good place to make your purchase.

I haved played guitar for thirty years, and having a great time with my new adventure with the UKE.
