Beautiful Instrument, Great Service
I've come to a conclusion. When buying an instrument, go to a responsible dealer like Austin Bazaar. I got the bug to try to learn an instrument so I ordered an Ukulele (KALA) from the big online place named after the South American river. The Ukulele arrived with a brace loose in the box.
Though Austin Bazaar was the seller, the instrument shipped from the distribution warehouse. Though Austin Bazaar tried to arrange an exchange, it ended up too time-consuming so I handled the return directly with the big river folks. I ordered this instrument directly from Austin Bazaar and I love it!
It's well made, attractive and sounds superior to the one I returned. In short, I really love this instrument and I've made amazing progress.
As a side note, I use my credit with big river to buy another KALA instrument and it has a horrible buzz. I've been at this long enough now to know when the buzz is my own inability and when it's the instrument. KALA offered to send me 1 string. Really? 1 string???? I think for $6 it would be wise to replace all the strings but they refused. So that one is going back to KALA for service. I doubt they'll do anything based on my experience with KALA so far.
Point is, this Cordoba is excellent. No buzz, nice warm sound and the instrument is attractive. But, if it sat in freezing warehouse, it might not arrive in great condition. Go Codoba and buy from Austin Bazaar.
