This beautiful Mandolin is ideal for beginning musicians or those looking to try something new! A Mandolin is a small, plucked, stringed musical instrument. It is characterized by eight strings, a teardrop or oval shaped body, a neck with a flat fretted fingerboard, and open soundholes. The Mandolin is used in a wide variety of music, including Bluegrass, Jazz, Celtic, and even South Indian Classical (Carnatic) music.
This Mandolin is about 26 inches in length (67cm) and features a beautiful high gloss finish for versatility in tone and style of play. The body is made from select aged wood.
Guitar Players: To being playing the Mandolin is a natural transition considering that the mechanics on the Guitar are very similar to those of the Mandolin. 1) Both are played with a flatpick. 2) Both are fretted instruments. 3) Both are chordal instruments. 4) Both require a knowledge of the very same music fundamentals. Violin Players: You won't have to relearn the fingerboard language, as the Mandolin is essentially a Violin handled with a different medium. Due to the picking hand, as opposed to the bowing hand, there are some new mechanics to learn. Even so, it would be quite an easier transition for a Violinist to pick up the Mandolin over and above any other fretted instrument.
